Every Porsche model has an official name and an internal type number. Sometimes they’re the same, and sometimes they’re not. Here is a list of models and their types as well as all the type codes and to which model they are related.

If you are looking for more details on the history and evolution of the Model and Type codes, the Porsche Newsroom did an interesting article at the end of 2015 on the history, difference, and how to understand the model and type codes. Click here to read more if you are interested. In addition, Christophorus did an article Titled Code P in its Issue 375 on the subject. Click here to read the overview. Finally, Richard Lindhorst provides an excellent historical perspective in his The Porsche-Code – What does it mean? published on elferspot.com which can be read here.
