Porsche Club Of America - Chicago Region

PCA Chicago Region News

Later this week, we'll be rolling out the event registration information for the 2018 PCA-Chicago Dinner Dance and Annual Awards Ceremonies, which this year will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2016, at The Hyatt Lodge, in Oak Brook, Illinois, commencing at 6:00 p.m.

To make event participation as easy and enjoyable as possible, we've also booked a block of rooms on-site at The Lodge itself (see below), so you won't need to worry about driving back to your hotel at the end of the festivities. Instead, you can just saunter down the hallway at the end of the evening, your room will be ready, your pillows fluffed, and there you'll be!!! How easy is that?

We're also in the process this week of putting the finishing touches on the dinner menu (as always, event registration will be posted on Clubregistration.net), and we expect to have all of that information available to you by no later than the close of this coming weekend. It's not there yet, though, so please hold for further instructions!

In the meantime, . . . .

  • here's the hotel reservation web page: https://book.passkey.com/event/49789458/owner/30295/home. The Hyatt Lodge is located on the McDonald's Campus, 2815 Jorie Boulevard, Oak Brook, IL 60523. The number of available rooms is limited, though, so please book early;
  • if you'd care to make your reservations by telephone instead, please call 888-421-1442 and mention the "Porsche Club Holiday Party" to reserve your room at the special discounted rate;
  • THE HOTEL RESERVATION DEADLINE IS 11/16/2018. Please book early to ensure your discounted rate, and also because the number of rooms reserved in the Club's name is limited; and
  • REMEMBER: registering for the hotel does not register you for the event, or vice versa, so don't forget both steps (room reservations AND event registration).

Pricing and entertainment specifics are also being finalized this week, but in the meantime, check your calendar, reserve your baby-sitter or pet-sitter if you need either, and DO NOT DELAY, or you'll be stuck at home, so which would you rather be doing: celebrating a great year with wonderful friends (living the wonderful life) or hearing about it later?

Pittsburgh, PA

There will not be a Spring Driving Tour in 2019. Instead we will have a Summer Driving Tour. The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix (PVGP) is one of two vintage car races on city streets in the U.S. We will be driving to Pittsburgh on Friday 7/19. We will stop for a nice barbecue lunch along the way in central Ohio. We will arrive in Pittsburgh at 6:00 pm or so. Friday night is a free night, nothing is planned. Go out and explore the city!

I have reserved a block of 55 rooms at the Hampton Inn University Center Pittsburgh/Oakland for each night (Friday thru Sunday). The discounted room rate is $139.00 per night plus tax. Same price as in 2016 when we last visited!

The Allegheny Region PCA (ARPCA) runs a great event in Schenley Park (where the race course is....). Attendees park their Porsche’s on a fairway, on the golf course. The parking location is a 2 minute walk to the race course. The ARPCA provides a wonderful catered lunch on Saturday and Sunday right on the golf course. Did I mention that every single fairway will be covered with cars from every imaginable marque? It’s an honest to goodness cargasm! Attendees are welcome to tour the paddock area which is just full of amazing and historical race cars. You can walk right up and touch them! There is free shuttle bus service to and from the paddock.

We will caravan to the event from the hotel on Saturday and Sunday morning. The qualifications/racing is through by 5 or 6 pm each day. The hotel will provide a segregated parking area for our Porsche’s. A washing area is also available for the “concours” diehards!

On Sunday evening, we will dine as a group in one of Pittsburgh’s better restaurants. We will travel by motor coach. The view of the city is remarkable. You will see why they call it “Three Rivers Stadium”! (Ask anyone who has been there....) This event is limited to 92 participants!

We will make sure that you have time to explore Pittsburgh which is a great town that has lost its rust-belt reputation! Great shopping, dining and sightseeing are available.

The hotel has approved a Porsche Club cocktail party in the hotel lobby on Saturday evening/night. So we can take over the lobby and party like it’s 1999! (Unfortunately without Prince.)
