Autocrossing events are driving skill contests that emphasize the driver's ability and the car's handling characteristics. This is accomplished by driving a course that is designated by traffic cones on a low hazard location, such as a parking lot or inactive airstrip. You run against a timing clock with competitors who have a similar Porsche to yours. Individuals who have the best times for their classes are determined the winners and will receive a trophy at the end of the day.  The classes were updated in order to promote the best equality of competition among the wide variety of Porsches that regularly participate.

The cars will be classed by participants, however, classing structure may be modified to suit participation levels at the discretion of the event chair. Protests can only be made by other drivers in the same class. Protests must be lodged before the trophy presentation. In the case of protests, the event chair will chair a protest committee and will appoint two other qualified people from a different class to make the ruling with a simple majority vote.

Bumping Schedule:

Bumping Schedule (when there are not enough entrants to establish a class).  Three (3) cars are necessary to make a class, except that a) in modified, only one car is necessary, and b) no more than two classes may be combined: provided, however, that c) cars will be bumped until a class is established.

Modifications to an automobile are accounted for with the below points tabulation sheet.  For every 5 points accumulated, a class bump (in the bumping order detailed above) will take place.

Modification Points Value
1” larger diameter or width over largest factory available 1
2” larger diameter or width over largest factory available 2
3” larger diameter or width over largest factory available 3
Treadwear less than 140 (May elect to move to Modified without penalty) 2.2%
Aftermarket spring/shock (non or single adjustable) 3
Aftermarket spring/shock (Moton, JRZ, etc.) 7
Upgraded sway bars (Non-factory, each) 1
Brake Upgrade (bigger rotor or caliper) 1
Camber plates 1
Lowered ride height (per inch under factory) 1
Performance Chip (2 points for single Turbo, 4 points for Twin Turbo) 1
Exhaust (includes Factory Sport exhaust) 1
Intake (other than drop-in filter) 1
Turbo upgrade (other than stock/factory available turbo) 5
Add Turbo or Supercharger (to factory normally aspirated vehicles) 5
Engine internal (head work, displacement increase, non-stock rotating assembly) 5
Ring and Pinion or Gearing change (non-stock from factory) 3
Aftermarket driver’s seat (Recaro, Sparco, Cobra, etc.) 1
Racing Belts or Harnesses (4-point plus, includes roll bar or harness bar, but not cage) 1

A 2.2% time penalty will be used to adjust times recorded by cars using R Compound tires (UTQG wear rating of less than 140) upward. Participants on tires with a UTQG rating of less than 140 can avoid the time penalty by voluntarily moving themselves into "M" class, where no penalty will be applied.
